Students create a short humorous skit in groups of 3 that they dramatize for the class.

The rule is that each time a student speaks, they must use one of the transitional words:

Still, yet, soon, already, anymore, or just.

Listening Teacher reads A2 aloud.

Teacher uses PPA3 to work with students to begin to create a timeline of the events in A2.
Teacher reads to A2 aloud to students.

Students finish creating the timeline (A4) of the events of the woman’s trip to the Great Wall of China.
Teacher makes copies of A5 and distributes one to each student. Teacher reads A2 aloud to students again.

Students listen and fill out the grid in A5 to describe the events surrounding the terms: still, yet, soon, already, anymore and just.

Reading Use PowerPoint PPA6 to introduce a cause and effect flow chart. Students read A7 and create a cause and effect flow chart showing the causes and effects of the Great Wall of China.
